So Sharp Records has released several battle records on vinyl, but now they're releasing the debut album of Raul G'z, "The Ahhtack," an album influenced by the turntablism records he's listened to countless times, from artists like D-Styles, Qbert, DJ Woody, Mike Boo, DJ Brace, C2C, Birdy Nam Nam, X-Ecutioners, and Skratch Comando, to name just a few. This influence is evident in the diverse styles and compositions of the tracks.
Bass lines, synthesizers, and other instruments, created with a fretless fader, are prominent in many tracks, providing continuity to the sound and style. But perhaps the common thread is the old radio shows of the last century, such as The War of the Worlds, 2000 Plus, The Shadow, and Alien Worlds, which shape several of the tracks and the album's aesthetic. Diving into so many hours of such vintage radio programs and transforming them into songs is an incredible experience.
There are features from DJ Tillo (Skratch Comando, Orishas); champions of scratch and DJing competitions such as Ivandejota, DJ Yul, DJ Tommy C, Barret, DJ Talo, DJ Dattlex, Jose Rodriguez, and DJ Zeus; rapper Dave One, his brother in Flavour G'z, J-Flava, and beats by S.Looped and Peep the Technique.
The vinyl has an extra of five skipless tracks for ultrapitch with new phrases, never heard in a battle record.
A vinyl for scratch lovers, in a limited edition of 200 copies, 100 of them in rusty red.
